Candidates are admitted in the school in classes VI and IX only. Admissions are given in accordance with a merit list drawn on the basis of performance of candidates in the All India Sainik Schools Entrance (Written) Examination (held on first Sunday of January each year), Interview and Medical fitness. The Centres for written examination are at New Delhi, Rohtak and Kunjpura (subject to change). 67 % seats are reserved for Haryana domicile students, 25 % for wards of Defence personnel and ex-servicemen. If seats are unfilled as per above reservation policy, then students from other states are considered for admission. 15% and 7 % seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively. The Prospectus and Admission forms are generally available in the school from first week of October onwards. The exact dates, etc are promulgated through media.

Prospectus –cum –Application Form may be obtained from the school office from 01 Oct 2005 onwards on all working days between 1000- 1300 hrs by paying Rs. 300/- in cash (Rs. 200/- for SC/ST candidates). Prospectus-cum- Application Form may also be obtained by post by sending a Demand Draft of Rs. 335-(235/- in case of SC/ST candidates), drawn in favour of Principal, Sainik School Kunjpura, payable at State Bank of India, Kunjpura (Code No. 2400). The last date of receipt of duly complete Application Form at the school office is 10 Dec 2005 (by 1400 hrs). The exam will be conducted on 08 January 2006 at Delhi, Rohtak & Kunjpura centers.

The existing fee structure (liable to revision from time to time) applicable to students of all classes is as follows: (a) Tution Fees Rs. 35,431.00 (b) Diet Money Rs. 8,861.00 (c) Other charges including Clothing Rs. 2,500.00 (d) Incidental Charges Rs. 2,500.00 (e) Refundable Security Deposit Rs. 3,000.00 for General/Defence and Rs. 1,500.00 for SC/ST students. (f) Total Fee (payable by new admission) Rs. 52,292.00 for General/Defence and Rs. 50,792.00 for SC/ST students.

A number of scholarships depending on the student’s academic performance and income of parent are awarded by the Min of Defence (sons of serving/retired Defence personnel) and Govt of Haryana (Haryana domicile students).
