Program- Founder's Day - 24th July 2008 Dear Friends At the outset I regret the delay in the response. In context to your queries & requests regarding Founder’s Day Program – Since by & large its School Function we went to School to know the programme. Mr. Hemant Sharma (President OBA) was also there and he informed that he has programed as follows : “ - NDA block would be inaugurated the same day. - Busts of Lt. Col. EJ Simeon & Mrs. Jean Simeon would also be inaugurated the same day - Only City Chapters’ representative of Old Boys are being invited and he can bring two/three people of his choice. - He is felicitating selected ex-teachers on behalf of OBA the same day. - Since Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor would be having lunch in school mess, he is getting the School Mess Air Conditioned temporarily on 24th July for his convenience” I hope this suffices your queries regarding the program for any other information you can be intouch with Principal Sainik School Kunjpura or Mr. Hemant Sharma. |

Eric Goes Back To Kunjpura
Dear Friends
Yes… He is back permanently to his most admired & adored school as per his wish. The couple lay side by side there blessing everybody and having the taste of that unique wind blowing in the campus. As the saying goes North or South, East or West – Home is the best. After conclaving different geographies he is back to his home fully content, satisfied & at peace.
Yesterday Dilip brought the Ashes to the school. It was a fine gathering wherein all the officers of school, many teachers, admin staff along with the Old Boys were present.
Kunjeyan Gurvinder Singh introduced the different aspects of couple’s life. There after ashes were immersed and a sapling was planted. Everyone offered floral tributes.
Wreaths were placed on behalf of Mrs. & Mr. Arora who could not join from Dehradun on health grounds. Wreath was also placed on behalf of Mrs. & Mr. Gauri who wished to join but would not be able to make up under the circumstances.
Dilip extended his gratitude to the Kunjeyan Fraternity for all their gestures.
Mr. PP Anand, Senior Master & Liaison Officer-OBA read out the school message.
Everybody present there wished to be emulated as Col. Simeon and was probably getting himself prepared for the same. As in way it’s a small task. One has to live each & every moment for the benefit of the cadets & institutions and above all has to sacrifice a lot.
In the end I had the privilege to read our Vidai in his honor. This was written by Sh. Kailash Budhwar (teacher at ssk) when the couple left Karnal after the retirement. Each & every word of that Vidai was written with full blown heart and undoubtedly justified even after 40 years. I wish to share the same with you in the due course.
After lunch we departed to face a new dawn.
With Warm Regards

Bidding Adieu To Lt. Col. E.J. Simeon
Dear Friends
At the outset I extend sincere gratitude to all those individuals and institutions who stood by us in this period. Being the next of kin as an extended family member we are thankful to you all.
Many of you might not even met him in his life time, but you know the couple had a magic hand with which they touched upon many a lives & carved out personalities out of the raw cadets. This was clearly visible from the body language of the people during his cremation. The then Defence Minister was also confident about the capabilities & abilities of this officer from Corps of Signals. Thus he was summoned to his office and was asked to take charge to build a nursery of the future officers and responsible citizens for the country.
And believe me both of them (Eric & Jean) put their heart & soul into it. Nature produces such individuals rarely and a couple rarest among the rare. We are lucky and thankful to the Almighty for bestowing them to our fraternity.
His body was cremated instead of being buried as per his wish, so that his ashes could be immersed in the dust of SS Kunjpura. Cremation was done with full honors. People from all across the country flew in. Wreaths were placed on behalf of Chief of Army Staff.
Vice Chief of Army Staff , DG OS, GOC Delhi, Air Marshal Bhangu, Gen. Kalra, Gen. Kapoor, Ch. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Prahlad Kakkar, ex teachers (represented by Ms. Ela Bagchi), ex principals (represented by Capt. VK Verma, IN retd), School Principal (Gp. Capt. Suresh), Senior Master (Sh. PP Anand) were personally there to bid him farewell.
It was crystal clear visibility that they were missing something in their body. Above all his teaching & preaching’s were prevailing upon everything – its not the time to mourn as he has done his duty to his perfection and moves onto the newer world of peace. Its our turn now let us prove ourselves that we are his next of kins.
I felt the sense of belongingness & honor to be a co paul bearers along with these & other members. Wreath was also placed on behalf of Students & Staff Doon School.
The ashes would be taken to school on Tuesday, 22nd May 2007 to be immersed with the dust of SSK. Where the couple would be together & keep on blessings & guide our generations after the generations from the heaven.
Later a memorial service would be held in Delhi on 29th May 2007 Cathedral of the Redemption, Church Road (near Gurudwara Rakabganj), North Avenue, New Delhi at 1715 hrs.
With him an era has ended.
I am extremely grateful to my seniors & fellow colleagues (just naming a few would be difficult) whose volunteered gestures made everything possible and paved the way for setting highest kind of traditions for the youngster to follow & admire.
Once again on behalf of Dilip and on behalf of whole Kunjeyan fraternity I once again thank you all for being with us.

The occasion was graced by distinguished Kunjeyan SS Deswal, IPS. He was the chief guest on the day.

Col. Simeon Bulletin
Dear Friends
The tough guy is fighting like his personality. Yesterday on 2nd May he was cheerful, normal & a bit relieved. He was in a joking mood too for a while.
But today again the pains have come back. We were informed that long time feeding thru IV is not good, so feeding thru nasal pipe would be tried. But you know Col. Simeon did not agree to it and he threw away the nasal pipe.
Since the doctors and attendants attending to him are now well aware of him, they tried to convince him but failed to an extent. We are approaching him thru various means to get him convinced for the same.
We hope by the evening today objective would be achieved.
On behalf of the fraternity & Dilip’s (his next of kin) behalf I personally extend hearty gratitude to all those who are listening to our requests and doing the needful.

Col. Simeon's Bulletin
Hi Guys
A bit of relaxing update. He is relived from pain and is asleep most of the time. His consciousness is there. He talks slowly.
Nutritions are being inserted thru IV. Yesterday & today he was relatively more stable.
The couple (both Eric & Jean) had touched upon & impressed many of us in one way or the other. At times the gestures would be life long.
I request all of you the share at least something out of that cherished treasure, I would like to compile all those & would like to be the part of the memorable on them. Please inform others too of the same. Let it become an inspirable booklet for the generations to come and pave the way for the immorality of this distinguished & envied couple.

Col. Simeon's Bulletin
Dear Members
Yesterday was a real tough day.
His IV got leaked and could not be inserted as numbness prevailed. And for hours he was not able to take any nutrition & hydration.
Also developed some complications with lungs. His heart was put on surveillance.
But you know he is a tough guy, fighter with a strong heart. He fought back and IV was inserted thru neck thus he got nutrition too. Today he was quite stable as the report poured in.
As per the family will, he would not be buried but cremated and his ashes too would be immersed with the soil of SS Kunjpura their Ist love. They have come out of the books to preach & teach how to LUV in today’s materialistic world.
On behalf of the fraternity, I salute the great personality, a visionary and an institution in himself.

Col. Simeon Not Well-update
Hi Friends
A request to all who are visiting or wish to visit him. Please plan your time as he can not withstand longer meetings.
It’s a real difficult for us to see him in pain. But please do not let our emotions leaked thru eyes as it adds to his guilty conscious.
One is a natural for a patient and the other which is more serious that he has not crafted us to be weak during the enduring tests. Life is such we have to face them. Lets be bold like him.
He had some liquid diet yesterday night, And as of now ok.
I have been receiving numerous telephone calls and mails from all over (even from outside of the fraternity) who can not visit him in person due to posting at remote sectors or involved with call of duties.
La Martiniere Calcutta – Principal, Staff & Students had a special prayer for Col. Simeon.
Mr. Sundeep Mann teacher at Doon School is following up on his conditions regularly. Similarly Gurdeep Singh (family friend of Col. Simeon) is following the updates and wishes him peace.
We are all thankful to all of them.
Dilip is very emotional to see such a response. Col. Simeon’s immediate family and friends are also involved with Dilip at this hour. He conveys “I attach a poem by Dylan Thomas that might be of interest to friends whose hearts are touched by my father's winsome smile as he struggles for his life.”
Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they ,Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright ,Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight, Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Amen………………
Would update latest by evening.

Col. Simeon Not Well-update
Dear Friends
As informed earlier the graph is in the declining state.
On 14th he was to put on oxygen & nebuliser. But on 15th he was bit cheerful.
As stated earlier the utmost priority is to get his esteem satisfied, so we are requesting his kids who are now shining stars to meet him in person so that he may find solace from his physical pain. Many of them have already visited.
One such activity was talking to Harbans (a fine sportsman during his hay days) who was not in touch for decades all together. He talked to him at length the other day and was very peaceful. Credit goes to the team of Suresh Sharma & Brig. Dalal for tracing his number.
Later on Bhupinder Hooda was updated on his state of health and requested him to visit him. Last Sunday he visited and stayed with him. Col Simeon had his esteemed satisfied and remembers the cherished moments. Maj. Gen. KJS Oberoi, Mandeep Bains, Sibbal & Suresh Sharma were also there. Fellow buddy Raj Kiran coordinated all and had good joking time with
Col. Simeon. The meeting had to be curtailed against the wishes of all as Col. Simeon got started exhausting and needed rest.
It was observed by one & all that in each meeting there is still to learn from the old stalwart visionary.
The good part is we were able to inculcate the required spirit in the non kunjeyans too when they saw events one after the other.
Once again I thank all those who all are responding to calls & making it happen. Thereby setting a valued tradition of the fraternity.

Col. Simeon Not Well-update
Dear Friends
As some of you are now well aware of the situation. Let me be honest with all of you.
He is playing last (slog) overs of the innings and match is quite tough & tense.
Under the situations he is being bogged down by the bouncers which escalates his pain & agony.
I was there in the hospital for around an hour talked to everybody concerned tried to motivate and explain the emotional bondings to others who are not the part of fraternity.
In the morning he was in great pain and morphin shot was to be applied and probably it was his first shot. There after he was asleep for the rest of the day. Today he was bit cheerful probably pain was relieved under the hit of morphin and forced rest accumulated to it.
Both the attendants were very human & decent. They were physically taking care of him the way probably none of us could do it.
But the bottom line is he has moved to his 90, let us pray that under the circumstances his innings should have a decent, peaceful , painless & satisfied end with a standing ovation.
I would probably be visiting him again in the weekend.

NDA Dec-06 Results
Hello Everybody
Result of NDA- UPSC exam is out. This time 20 out of 44 have cleared written test.
Its improved result as compared to last year but still not to the satisfaction as even 50% mark is not achieved.
All these 20 cadets would be facing SSB in Jan / Feb. We hope they all land up at NDA.
With Warm Regards
